Min-Rong Chen is currently a professor and the doctoral supervisor at the School of Computer Science, South China Normal University. She received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from South China University of Technology in 2000 and 2004, respectively, and Ph.D. degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008. From 2008 to 2015, she was an associate professor with Shenzhen University. From 2015 to 2016, she was a visiting scholar with University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, USA. Her research interests include computational intelligence and information security. She has authored or co-authored the book Extremal optimization: Fundamentals, algorithms, and applications, (CRC Press & Chemical Industry Press, 2016), and over 70 journal and conference articles. Her research work has been supported by four National Natural Science Foundation of China projects. As a core member of the project teams, she has won the first prize of Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Award in 2021, and the first prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2023, respectively. She has been selected for the top 2% of global scientists by Stanford University in 2024.
